From 19–22 March 2026, South Africa will host a landmark moment in the sport when LIV Golf South Africa tees off at the spectacular Steyn City Golf Club in Johannesburg.
For local golf fans, it marks the first time the global tour brings its distinctive blend of elite competition and high energy entertainment to African soil. For the players, it is another stop on a rapidly expanding international circuit that continues to reshape professional golf.

Set within the rolling parkland layout of Steyn City, the tournament promises four days of world class competition against one of the most impressive backdrops in Gauteng. The Nicklaus Design course is known for its wide fairways, dramatic bunkering and strategic water hazards, creating a layout that rewards both power and precision.
One of the defining features of LIV Golf is its shotgun start format. Rather than staggered tee times throughout the morning, every group begins play at the same time on different holes. For spectators, this means the course is alive with action from the moment play begins, allowing fans to move freely around the course and follow their favourite players.

South African interest will naturally centre around Southern Guard, the all South African team made up of Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Dean Burmester and Branden Grace. The quartet brings major championship pedigree and international experience, and playing in front of a home crowd will add extra motivation.

Beyond the fairways, LIV Golf events are known for their lively atmosphere. Music, entertainment and fan experiences form part of the broader event environment, turning the tournament into a full day out rather than simply a traditional golf viewing experience.

For Johannesburg, hosting the tournament is also a major moment on the global sporting calendar. With international broadcast coverage and visitors travelling from across the world, the event will showcase South Africa as a destination capable of hosting world class sport.
When the first shots are struck at Steyn City, it will not just be another tournament beginning. It will mark a new chapter for professional golf on the continent.
